Had a bit of a bust up with a TD last week and it's really been playing on my mind...

Playing cash, I call a raise one off the button and the big blind also calls. I have 8/9. the flop comes 10 J Q rainbow. Lovely-ISH. The big blind checks and the original raiser moves all in and I call. Now the action is on the big blind and he is having a dwell up. I ask him "I hope you dont have AK?" (By now I know he hasnt) and he goes into one saying I cant say that because it's a three way pot and that it may influence the other persons decision!? I said she is already all in and he said it doesnt matter!? Then the floor comes over and starts trying to explain how the guy is right????? It made no sense, but he basically said that I could influence the players decision which in turn could influence the outcome of the all-in players total pot winnings - but isnt that poker?

Would like to hear peopleviews on this and if Mad Marty could let me know his thoughts then it would be much appreciated.

Gl all on the new forum.

I can see what he means - you might be trying to get him to fold so you are heads up with the all in player therefore influencing the size of the pot

I think you have done nothing wrong as the other person is all in, talking on the table is a part of the game now.

I think mad marty would of let this ride.

Allthough it appears you have not done anything wrong, not intentionally, your actions could still influence the size of the pot. Consider if the initial raiser is holding AK and the big blind two pair. The big blind may pass, believing you are holding a hand that beats his, therefore denying the AK extra chips. In your case we do not know who is holding what hand, or the eventual outcome. If there was a side pot between yourself and the big blind, play would now be heads up and you could talk about your hand.
I hope this explains the TD's ruling.

I see what you mean - still sounds a bit harsh though
