One thing can lead to another. Two years ago at the UK Open, Trigger Craig, who was playing in his first ever TV tournament and hadn't really played that much Hold'em to boot inexplicably just called on the river after having made the nut flush which was the best possible hand on the final board. The man who he failed to raise was a young Internet qualifier from Canada who worked in a tire factory in the wilderness of Alberta and had brought his attractive fiance along with him to Maidstone for their first ever trip out of their hometown. The qualifier was holding a smaller flush at the time. Had Trigger then raised with the nuts, your man would have been all-in, knocked out of the tournament, and then back home on the plane to Alberta the next day with his pretty fiance in tow in order to start their life together at the tire factory in Alberta. That's what probably should have happened.
Instead, Trigger didn't raise with the nuts and what happened next was this. Your man came back to win the heat and guarantee himself $5000 and a seat in the semis. He also earned the right to hang around Maidstone for six more days to wait for said semi final, during which period his fiance was often seen in the company of one of the hosts for 888. Your man was first out of the semifinal and went back to Alberta only to find his fiance packing up to run off back to London with the guy from 888. Trigger doesn't raise with the nuts, man loses his wife.
You gotta be careful as one thing can lead to another. So you'll understand why everyone was so concerned yesterday when Trigger did it again. After hitting the nut flush on the river against Pretty Boy Martin last night, Trigger just called the river bet. Everybody knows it was only because of lack of experience, and thankfully Martin was bluffing so he couldn't have called a raise anyway. But you never know, and if I were Martin I would be very careful about the movements of my wife or girlfriend for the next few weeks. I'd hate to see somebody else lose their wife just because Trigger forgot to read the board.
